An American Airlines flight AA2051 was forced to return to the gate immediately, on February 22, 2023 by the authorities to search the plane as a hoax bomb threat was sent by a teenager to his fellow passengers. As per reports, the student was returning to the Texas border from a humanitarian school trip when made the threat.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the aircraft was taxing in El Paso, Texas, when the passengers received a message via Apple Airdrop saying: “I have a bomb, would like to share a photo.”

The West Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force wing of the FBI and bomb squad conducted a search operation in the plane. The passengers and luggage have been thoroughly searched until they found out the threat was “non-credible”, as per news reports.
During the investigation, the authorities found the student to be the offender who confessed to sending the bomb threat message. His mobile was seized as supporting evidence for further action.

The concerned offender is now in the custody of the El Paso Juvenile Probation Department and facing charges of a felony offense in Texas for creating a false report or alarm.
